Panelist Dr. Robert Walley, founder of the Canada-basedMaterCare International, pointed out that 91 percent of maternal deaths occur in “the last three months of pregnancy, during labor and delivery,” or shortly afterwards.
“Abortion and birth control are irrelevant.” Yet the “only solution being offered is, if a mother wants to stay alive, she’s got to kill her baby,” he said. “That’s outrageous.”
MEXICO STUDY, 2015
Abortion supporters commonly argue that restrictive abortion laws lead to higher maternal mortality rates. But a revealing new study conducted by the MELISA Institute and published last month in the British Medical Journal (BMJ) has firmly debunked this common pro-abortion argument.Over a 10 year period, the MELISA Institute teamed up with an international panel of researchers to examine the maternal mortality rate in 32 Mexican states.
Eighteen of the states have personhood laws protecting unborn life in all circumstances, while fourteen of them had more lenient laws. The goal of the study was to determine the impact of abortion legislation on maternal mortality. What may be shocking to some readers is that the Mexican states with personhood laws prohibiting abortion showed “23% lower overall maternal mortality and up to 47% lower mortality from complications of abortions.”

CHILE STUDY, 2014

“Over the 40 years of legalized abortion in the UK there has been a consistent pattern in which higher abortion rates have run parallel to higher incidence of stillbirths, premature births, low birth-weight neonates, cerebral palsy, and maternal deaths as sequelae of abortion. In contrast, both Irish jurisdictions consistently display lower rates of all morbidities and mortality associated with legalized abortion. Women, women’s health policy advocates, and national health systems ought to take careful note of these adverse ecological findings as a result of 40 years of legalized abortion in the UK compared with abortion free Ireland.”
